Adult Leader Training Course Descriptions
Advancement Training - Our Advancement committee provides "Life to Eagle" and Unit Advancement training monthly at Roswell Street Baptist Church, 7:30 pm, third Thursday of each month.
This is Scouting - Introduction to the Scouting program. All New Leaders are required to take at least once. This course replaces New Leader Essentials (also available online).
Youth Protection - All adults working with Scouts and in direct contact with Scouts are required to complete this course every 2 years. (also available online).
Cub Leader Specific - Position Specific Training for following Pack Leader positions: Cubmaster/Assistant, Committee Chair, Committee Members, and all Den Leaders (Tiger, Bear, Wolf, and WEBELOS).
Scoutmaster/ASM Leader Specific (SALT) - Delivering the Boy Scout Program to the youth, this course isrequired for Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster positions. For additional information contact the course scribe [dot] foothills [at] gmail [dot] com (Scribe Stef Anderson)
Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (ITOLS) - A Fundamental Outdoor Skills course required for Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster, and Venturing Advisors to units with outdoor programs. Download the course Manual Part 1 and Manual Part 2 prior to the beginning of the course.
Venturing Leader Specific Training (VLST) - All about Venturing - required for Venturing Advisors and Crew Committee Chairs.
Venturing Leader Skills Course (VLSC) - Leadership skills training for Venturing-age youth members.
Foothills Youth Leader Training - YLT is a district level course for youth developing leadership skills. This one-day course is positioned between Troop Leader Training (unit level) and National Youth Leader Training Council level, one-week course).
Troop Committee Challenge - Managing the Boy Scout program - Required for Committee Chair, recommended for all committee members (also available online).
Chartered Organization Representative (COR) Training - The role, responsibilities and resources for all unit CORs.
Backcountry Outdoor Leader Skills (BCOLS) - Advanced outdoor skills for Boy Scout and Venturing leaders. (Backpacking emphasis, excellent prep for Philmont) - Participants must have completed ITOLS prior to attending. Flyer
Outdoor Skills for Webelos Leaders (OWL) - Camping and Outdoor Skills for WEBELOS Leaders.
BALOO Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Training - The basic outdoor skills for Cub camping. At least 1 adult in each Cub Scout Pack MUST be BALOO trained to take the Pack camping.
Foothills Youth Leader Training - Leadership skills for Boy Scout and Venturing youth. More advanced than Troop Leader Training and excellent prep for National Youth Leader Training.
Hazardous Weather Training - now required for camping can be found on line at http://olc.scouting.org/index.html
