2014 Foothills Honor Roll Requirements

2013 Foothills Chicken PinThe Foothills District Honor Roll is a local award created to recognize those units in our district that provide the highest level of program quality for their youth members.  The award is signified by the "Chicken Pin", inspired by the famous Big Chicken in Marietta, and designed each year to reflect the theme of the District Awards Banquet.  The District Honor Roll requirements include earning the BSA Journey to Excellence Gold Level, along with participation in district and council events that enrich the Scouting program.

Scout Sunday / Scout Sabbath Information

It is not too late to organize a Scout Sunday service at your church or meeting place if you haven’t already scheduled one.  Either February or March are good months to recognize your chartered partners and what better way to do this than at a Sunday service (or a Saturday night Vigil Mass if you are Catholic).  Since some churches now celebrate Boy Scout and Girl Scout Sunday together, it is usually done sometime either between the two Sundays i.e. late in February or alternating each year for Boy Scout Sunday in February and Girl Scout Sunday in March.  The following churches have already notified us that they've scheduled their Scout Sunday services.  This is not a complete list.  Check with your unit or chartered organization for services your unit may be participating in:

Transfiguration Catholic Church: Saturday, February 2nd, 5 PM Mass and everyone is welcome—Need to be at church by 4:40 PM to line up to process in and sit together.

Sandy Plains Baptist Church: Sunday, February 3rd. at 10:50 AM
