There has been much discussion of the imminent change in the requirements for Eagle Scout – namely, that Cooking Merit Badge will be required on all Eagle Scout applications submitted to the Council for certification (prior to the Board of Review) after January 1. This increases the number of required badges to 13, with 8 elective badges for the same total of 21.
The Foothills District had a banner year in terms of Eagle Scout advancement in 2013. The following figures demonstrate our very high level of performance in connection with the highest level of recognition among youth in Scouting:
Total number of Eagle Scouts advanced: 111
Units advancing at least 1 Eagle Scout: 29
Service Hours reported for Eagle Scout service projects: 18,635
The Foothills District Committee elected officers for the 2014 term at the annual business meeting held on November 7. Michael French will serve as district chair and David Jaracz will serve as vice chair.
