Advancement Resources
There are tons of scouting resources on the internet. Any search engine can turn up thousands of results in any subject area. Some of the information is good, lots of it is of questionable quality. The resources on this page are sites we trust for reliable information, and make good starting points for your searches.
Advancement - General
- The U.S. Scouting Service Project is a great portal with lots of information about all aspects of scouting. Some of the advancement-related links you might find helpful:
- The Atlanta Area Council website has advancement information under the "Programs/Services" Link.
Eagle Scout Resources
- The Atlanta Area Council Life to Eagle Guidebook is the authoritative source for local Council policy on earning the Eagle Rank. It describes the complete process.
- The National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) website is the official location for information and forms necessary for becoming an Eagle Scout. Here you will find electronic versions of the Eagle Scout Leadership Project Workbook that you can use on your computer.
- The BSA National Council Boy Scout Page has two versions the Guide to Safe Scouting, which is an important safety resource in planning and carrying out your Eagle project. You can read a searchable copy of the Guide to Safe Scouting online.

Board of Review Resources
- Thoughts on Conducting Boards of Review contributed by scouters.
Merit Badges
- meritbadge.info, as its name implies, has lots of information about merit badge opportunities, most - but not all - in the Atlanta Area Council. This site is managed by Rodrigo Cano and Mike Jenkins, Scouting volunteers from the Foothills district.
- meritbadge.com and usscouts.org maintain current information about all merit badge requirements. Requirements are changed periodically, and these sites can help you make sure you are using the latest requirements.
